10 tips to live a financially stable life

1. Start that Christmas shopping early: start it in October or even as early as July. You'll save money and hassle closer to Christmas

2.  Carry a water bottle from home: there is no need to spend $1-$3 per bottle for water. On the same note, bring coffee from home instead of stopping at Starbucks. Same goes for lunch. Last nights leftovers make a great lunch the next day.

3. Fix what can be fixed instead of buying new when something breaks

4. buy and sell/"mom" Facebook groups are your friend. Every city has them. Buy secondhand items when you can. Sell your items that you don't need.

5. Turn down the heat, put on a sweater.

6. It is cheaper to prepare food at home than to eat out.

7Walk, ride a bike or take public transit whenever you can

8. Make sure you pay off your credit card in full to avoid paying interest.

9. Don't spend more than you have to on things you don't need. You don't need designer clothes or the newest iPod. On that note, shop a model back for things like cellphones, cars and anything else you can. A brand new, but unsold car from one model year earlier can be thousands of dollars cheaper than the current model.

10. Live within your means: set a budget and stick to it. Don't spend more than you have and buy necessities first.
